Wow! This song deserves a review, so here:

Pros:

- Liking the production a lot! Good combination of electronic and orchestral elements (mainly electronic, but the snare drum at 0:26 is a nice touch.) I can totally imagine this in a video game.

- The chord progressions are great. They sound very professional to me.

- I've never heard anything that sounds like this! That really separates you from other Newgrounds artists, which, of course, is a good thing.

Cons:

- It's hard to find cons to this piece! The piece is screaming for a lead instrument. Personally, I think an ocarina or whistling sound would be pretty badass. Maybe an off-kilter synth could work, too. Mess around with different things. Melody is what hooks people once they delve into your song; keep them interested!

- The ending was a bit abrupt. Maybe try letting the instruments naturally die down after the second loop, a.k.a. stop the loop but let the tracks reverberate. It would still be abrupt, but would create a nice lingering effect. Or, you can begin looping the piece again and fade out after a few measures. Whichever one works.

You obviously have a ton of talent. Plus, you have knowledge of chords and production. With a couple tweeks, this piece will be perfect! Keep up the great work! :D

Thanks for the review!

Gave me butterflies, ahaha :)

Hi!

I just want to say that I love this piece in the game and I love the concept behind this remix. Yoko Shimomura never ceases to amaze me! Here's a list of pros and cons of your piece -

Pro:

- Cool ideas; great concept in general. I was surprised to hear an arrangement of this piece in an electronic format. Very refreshing and new!

- interesting melody to work with, but it surprisingly fis the genre well.

- Nice effect starting at 2:09. It fits that section well and is the definite highlight of the remix. Also, good fade in at the beginning from the piano solo to the main part of the piece.

Cons and Advice:

- (this one is very important) The piece has severe clipping in the melody. The beat is very strong and is drowning out the rest of the piece. Make sure your melody stays on TOP of the beat.

- The instrumentation could use work. The piece's melody is unnerving in a stand alone piano setting. Try adding more to the piano: make a left-hand and right-hand part. Also, the lead synth feels dull. Try either sprucing up the synth or create a synth of your own. Having a distinct lead can give you a unique and memorable sound.

- As I've learned from Newgrounds and OCRemix.org: a remix isn't just about laying down a MIDI and adding new sounds and a beat. It's about letting the creative juices flow into your arrangement. Adding your own flair by creating new countermelodies or even slightly changing the melody can give you an edge over every other remixer/arranger out there.

Overall, the piece is very fun and exciting, and some of the effects fit perfectly. I enjoyed listening to the remix, but the overpowering beat was distracting. Also, the obscure melody in the piano solo needs needs modification. Keep up the good work, and always aim to improve yourself!

AeronMusic responds:

Thank you for taking the time for writing a good and helpfull review! I'm glad you enjoyed it at least. The part that starts at 2:09 is not from the midi, i've changed the melody and it took me much time to do that and to fit that in the song. The piano is a plugin from FL studio, called FL Keys. I've EQ'ed it and I put a delay on it and it was done, but it's not that good. The kick made the beat so strong. I put a bass boost on it and I did a bit of mastering, so that why the melody drowns. Thanks again!!

Sounds along the lines of Jack Johnson or John Mayer!

Holy crap! You're so pro! :D

Apatheria responds:

I'm no pro, but thank you! c:

This is so beautiful T-T
The only thing it needs is less repetition. Maybe different melodic section can be added in the middle. Great job, though! Manly tears!

ShawneeSky responds:

Thank You!! I appreciate your feedback :D it means a lot!! I dont get much listens or anything on here XD so when i do im like SCORE!! i understand its repetitious, but its just a little interlude i did late the other night

I think this loop perfectly fits an old-school video game, so your message is well conveyed. The loop, tough purposefully short, could use more depth in harmony and melody in general. If you wanted to work more with this loop, try making the looping transition more seamless. Perhaps use a percussion fill and quickly break down the loop to the original chords.

I think the piece has great potential. The chords are very soothing, and the percussion is edgy. Good job so far; just keep it up! :D

Great job! The synth lead is amazing, but the mix could use a little more work. The marimba-type instrument at 0:47 seems a little out of place. Also, the percussion is out of sync around 1:12. Really, though, the arrangement is impressive. One of the best Zelda mixes I've heard on Newgrounds :D

Twone responds:

Well I'm glad to hear that, thank you!

Great Job!

I'm glad someone less popular made top spot in the Best of the Week! Great production; long build-up, but the drop is perfect.

Wish you the best of luck in the future!

Adjeye responds:

Thanks for thinking in that direction :P

Wow...

Mind=blown.

The production is perfect! And this is your first Dubstep song? Sure doesn't sound like it! What program(s) did you use?

Pocketpod responds:

logic pro 9 and reason 6.

Thanks for your review!
